It is with a heavy heart to learn that Darryl Dawkins has passed away at the age of 58. A true pioneer to the game that we all grew to love, Dawkins or Chocolate Thunder from the Planet Lovetron was as charismatic and entertaining as his nickname. It is because of him that we can’t seem to get enough of backboard shattering dunks. It is also because of him that we now have break away rims — a feat that allows us to appreciate his thunderous dunks even more. From Dominique Wilkins to Vince Carter and Blake Griffin, Chocolate Thunder will be remembered in time as one of the greatest players, dunkers and entertainers of the game.
