Nike Class of ’97 Pack

Nike knows how to keep you on your toes. Right before christmas they release a special pack that is sure to get basketball fans and sneakerheads alike excited. Do you remember the movie “He got game” by Spike Lee? If yes, we’re sure you love it. If not, please stop reading here and go watch that movie NOW! It’s one of the best basketball films ever, hands down. “He got game” stars Denzel Washington alongside a young Ray Allen. You might be surprised but Ray Allen is one those rare athletes who can actually act. In the movie he plays the extremely talented high school basketball player Jesus Shuttlesworth.

The role is tailor-made for Allen and so it’s no surprise that Jesus Shuttlesworth became one of his nicknames in real life. In “He got game” he wears both the Nike Air Foamposite Pro and the Nike Zoom Hawk Flight. Both basketball shoes were originally released in 1997 but that’s not the only explanation for the naming of the box. In the movie Jesus Shuttlesworth actually graduates from his fictional Lincoln High in that year.

There’s not much left to say about the Foamposite. Either you love it or you hate it. The Foams were the most expensive shoes in development and production in Nike history. Even after almost 20 years, they retain their unique futuristic look. The white/black “Pearl” colorway is as fresh and clean as it gets. What really makes this pack special though is the return of the highly underrated and oft-forgotten Zoom Hawk Flight. That sneaker is a beast! Apart from Ray Allen/Jesus Shuttlesworth it was famously worn by Gary Payton. The Glove was featured in the original Zoom Air commercials (check below for a hilarious example) and the Hawk became something like his unofficial signature shoe. The Foamposite Pro and the Zoom Hawk Flight coming back in their OG colorways “Pearl” and “Game Royal” in a really awesome box is definitely one of the highlights of this year’s holiday season.

Hello a female reader from Emsdetten, Germany, here

OMG those are awesome! actually its me personally who really longs for the 90s style at the moment – clothing that looks like 90s stuff basically if nothing else is such a hit when you go to a 90s party where all the people dance to “Larger than Life” and “Lemon Tree” and “Sing Hallelujah” and so on u know? Theres only one problem: Those Class of 97 sneakers really dont look as if they’re made for girls. Say simply look a little bit “manly” dont u think? Nike shoes for girls more look like something like the ones they sale at a Hip Hop store in my town: theyre lila and (how should I say that…) more “tenderly” designed than the Nike shoes above. Same here: the pink style is also awesome, of course 😉

But nevertheless: Great stuff you present here! Lets hope there will be a female edition soon, too!
    Greetings from Doro
