Adidas BHM 2016

Adidas comes up with a special for the Black History Month this year. They chose to pay homage to Jesse Owens, one of the most successful black athletes in Olympic history. He won 4 gold medals in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin wearing hand-tailored track spikes by Adi Dassler, the founder of Adidas.

The D Lillard 2 BHM color design is inspired by Jesse Owen’s track uniform. The off-white silhouette matches with parts made of gold foil texture that refer to the 4 medals he won. You can’t miss the 733, Owen’s bib number from 1936, printed on the tongue in big golden letters. Another gimmick is the laces tag with Jesse Owens’ name on it and a silhouette of his original track spikes. Damian Lillard is the perfect endorser for this BHM edition as he competes in the same spirit striving for success as Owens did.
