CRAZY EXPLOSIVE – WIGGINS AND THE THREE STRIPES

“Crazy explosive“ is probably the most accurate description for both Andrew Wiggins and his latest basketball model with adidas.

Last night, on the 13th of November, Wiggins exploded with another career-high – within five days only! After scoring 36 points in Tuesday’s 119-110 loss at Brooklyn, the Minnesota Timberwolves’ small forward trumped his stats once again at the Target Center in Minneapolis. The L.A. Lakers faced a young superstar in the making: Scoring crazy 47 points in total and 14/21 from the field, 17/22 on free throws and 2/5 on threes, the Canadian lead the Wolves to a 125-99 win over the purple and gold. Clutch! His career-high made him the 13th man in franchise history to reach at least 40 points in a game. Not bad for a 21-year-old! Almost every week, Wiggins continues to explode and push his development further and further. A young core, the veteran coach Thibodeau and a roster full of promising players – all determined to end Minnesota’s twelve year playoff drought.

Determination is the key to Wiggins’ success on court as well as off-court. On court, he wore the adidas Crazy Explosive “Andrew Wiggins” PE Away while exploding in his 47-points-game yesterday. Off court, together with the adidas designers did he accept the challenge to create something never-seen-before in basketball sportswear. And they did pretty good, ‘cuz adidas’ latest bball shoe is state-of-the-art – truly crazy and explosive as the name has already suggested. After some first pictures of the Crazy Explosive were leaked weeks before the official release, the reaction to the hightop hoops model could hardly have been more different. The customer base was not ready for the high-arching high top. While some argued that they look more like hiker boots than basketball performance shoes, others could not wait to try the extremely comfortable Boost cushioning on the hardwood. The internet virtually exploded, giving the new Wiggins’ a Chef Curry like beating. It is true, you need to get used to the looks of the shoe, but if Wiggins can score over 40 points in these, they seem to be pretty promising.

The Three Stripes have been upgrading most of their basketball shoes’ silhouettes with their signature technologies such as Primeknit and Boost. The Crazy Explosive features both innovations, providing a comfort level every player is panting for. The energy return of the boost technology will lift your jump shot right into new hemispheres. While the responsive, full-length cushioning gives you explosive power on the takeoff, it absorbs the vibration on the landing. The engineered Primeknit on the upper provides an enhanced flexible and breathable fit. Thanks to the lightweight construction does the Crazy Explosive feel like a second skin. Same goes for the updated lacing system, reducing the pressure on the laces and reminding one of the Nike Flywire cables. The unique adidas branding with the Three Stripes at the ankle provide a clean look in comparison to the crazy design on the tongue. And of course, Andrew Wiggins’ “AW” adorns the tongue.

A new approach, a complete success. The Crazy Explosive continues a shift in design for adidas’ basketball performance, a makeup that is long overdue. The opinions on the Crazy Explosive may still vary significantly, but one should definitely give the sneaker a try and slip in. Whether you like the silhouette or not, performance beasts wear the performance beast. Harrison Barnes, Iman Shumpert, Marcus Smart, and Justice Winslow – all of them are wearing Wiggins’ Crazy Explosive this season.
