The Super Bowl LI in Houston was full of surprises yesterday. An epic comeback by the New England Patriots, a first ever overtime in a Super Bowl game and an outstanding Tom Brady, earning his 5th Championship Ring. First of all, major salute to the GOAT! The KICKZ crew congratulates the Pats for winning the Championship 2017. After the notorious “Deflategate”-scandal at the beginning of the NFL season cost the star Quarterback the first four games, the Patriots had to suffer once more in late November when Tight End Rob Gronkowski had been injured and was out for the rest of the season – including the Super Bowl. Nonetheless, they made it to “the Final of the Finals”, facing an impressive underdog, the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons’ game satisfied the audience the same way it did throughout their exceptional season (11-5)! Yesterday, they showed the world that they can compete with the glorious Patriots easily, leading the match 21-3 at halftime. The two quarters – and the overtime – that followed the halftime show, performed by none other than Lady Gaga herself, are still hard to grasp. What a historic win for the New England Patriots!
This year’s Big Game was a show of superlatives. Especially the famous Super Bowl commercials spoke volumes. While the world’s biggest brands aired for the X-time in a row, the Rookie alert was pretty strong as well. Hilarious ads, brand new approaches, thought-provoking stories – this Super Bowl had it all, starring Jason Statham, Justin Timberlake, Miranda Kerr, Cam Newton, Rob Gronkowski, Betty White, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Missy Elliot, Magic Johnson, Jimmy Kimmel and – last but not least – the Super Bowl MVP himself, Tom Brady. Most of the commercials were quite controversial this year, weaving stories of immigrants and multiculturalism in their plot. A game full of political ads, all poignant given the recent turn of events in American politics. Provocing as well as mocking statements on Trump’s policies, hints of his wall to Mexico and his “iconic” hair, filled some of the ads. Do not worry though – funny, historic, sarcastic, bizarre, mind-blowing and heart-warming commercials aired as well. Have a look for yourself and let us know, which one you like best:
