AIR JORDAN 8 “ALTERNATE” – RELEASE INFO

At first glance, sneakerheads might not believe their eyes… Is Jordan truly bringing the popular Air Jordan 8 “Bugs Bunny” OG colorway back on the market? The high-top looks extremely similar to the colorway originally released back in 1993, but unfortunately, appearances are deceptive! It has quite an interesting anecdote to tell, though. The Air Jordan 8 Retro “Alternate” releasing this Saturday, February 22, continues the story of colorways that were initially conceived but never made it to the production stage. In 1993, only three colorways made up the original release range of the AJ8 – Bugs Bunny, Aqua and a Playoff variation. Thus, the “Alternate” colorway is Jordan’s tribute to long lost ideas and dusty concepts stored in their archives.

The “Alternate” collection, kicking off with an Air Jordan 4  in January 2015, has intended to revive forgotten colorways that MJ could have worn on court if others had not grabbed their spots. The trend continues to persist in 2017 with the Air Jordan 8 hitting stores this week. The unique dual-strapped eight signature model is dressed in the appealing ‘Chicago Bulls’-inspired color scheme in red, black and white. In comparison to the “Bugs Bunny” OG, this year’s AJ comes with metallic red strap buckles and a 1993 heel pull tab to set it apart. Contrasting red and black accents are scattered throughout its entire side panels while the sole is adorn with glittering details. The texturized Jumpman logo with the iconic Bulls colors on the tongue completes the Air Jordan 8 Retro “Alternate”.

Available in kids and men sizes, the Air Jordan 8 drops this Saturday, 9 AM CET. Get your pair at KICKZ.com!
