Before Michael Jordan dominated the NBA in his own signature Air Jordan shoes, he rocked Converse to match his University of North Carolina jersey. That’s why Jordan Brand and Converse got together to pay hommage to MJ’s basketball heritage and created the Jordan x Converse Pack. The Pack consists of two pairs of shoes, an Air Jordan II and a Converse Fastbreak Mid.
Similar to other Jordan packs like the Old Love/New Love Pack, this pack is also inspired by Michael’s love for the game of basketball. As a matter of fact, MJ’s first endorsement deal with Nike included a “Love for the Game“ clause, which allowed him to take part in pickup games during the off-season. He was allowed to play anywhere, anytime and truely act out his Love for Basketball.
While he used to play in Converse during his Carolina days, and also at his first Olympics in Los Angeles in 1984, he actually wore this particular colorway of the Air Jordan II at the Carolina Pro Alumni basketball game for charity on June 28th 1987, when he was already the rising star of the NBA and the face of the Chicago Bulls. Both pairs feature Carolina blue details, the Converse on the logos and the Jordans on the heel. In addition to that, red can be found on the AJII, making the colorway a perfect mix between UNC and the Chicago Bulls.
