Black Friday 2015 sees the comeback of the infamous “Aqua” colorway of the Air Jordan 8. Michael Jordan wore these sneakers during the 1993 NBA All-Star Game. This game went down in history for a number of reasons. It was the last All-Star Game for Isiah Thomas and the first for Shaquille O’Neal. Both started for the East alongside Scottie Pippen, Larry Johnson and, of course, MJ. They went up against John Stockton, Clyde Drexler, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone and David Robinson of the Western All-Stars. This match-up is remarkable because – apart from Shaq and Grandma Johnson – all starters have been enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame.
The Aqua version of the AJ 8 is one of 3 original colorways and arguably the most popular among those. This is the second retroed version after the 2007 re-release. The Air Jordan 8 was the first Jordan signature sneaker to not feature the Nike logo at all. Designer legend Tinker Hatfield had tried to convince Nike that Jordans should have their own logo since the Air Jordan VI era and finally had his way with the AJ 8.
